Default Strongroot's shelter farming

Ok this is my first "guide" so dont judge to hard

How do u get to strongroot?
All u have to do is port out from Unwaking Waters mission[Kurzick] to Morostav Trail and u see just walk a few steps holding ctrl and u should see him
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/4568/gw0337vh.jpg (he is at the end of the red dots)

What skills to use?
i use a monk/warrior to kill him and his buddys skills and attributes are like this

Attributes:
Healing Prayers 6+3
Smiting Prayers 9+1+3
Protection Prayers 6+3
Sword 9
Tactics 10

Skills:
PS
HB
Shield of Judgement
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Bonetti's Defense
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending

The Fight

U will see a bunch of afflicted including a Ritualist boss, ive never tried to kill these just sneak past them, after the first corner u get around u will meet 2 Stone Scale Kirins cast PS and carry on running, these are necro mobs but dont worry they do not remove enchants.

Carry on down and u will meet 1 more stone scale kirin and 2 dragon moss wich are elementalist mobs, run past those to u will now as u have counted have 5 or so mobs on ur ass, u can now stop and kill these using shield of judgement or carry on until u have aggroed the boss including the 5 or so mobs bound to him should be a couple of warrior, necro and elementalist mobs.

Just cast Shield of judgement, PS and HB, the tricky part is that u will get diseased and getting barbs on u by the necro mobs who also spawn vampiric horrors when other mobs die, just stand there killing them using SoJ will take a couple of SoJ's before most of the mobs are dead and i strongly advice using bonetti's if u get in trouble cause of the disease since u can regen hp with it on.

Since it takes a little while to kill all these u wont do it in 1 SoJ, takes me about 3 or so and i keep bonnetti's on when waiting for SoJ to recharge.

Ok now almost all mobs are dead maybe u have some of the elementalist mobs left but they wont bother u much use riposte and deadly riposte as much as the adrenaline and recharge time will let u and the boss will drop in no time and u will hopefully get the shield

edit just got the drop for the first time right after i started this thread so ill put my own picture in req 9str -2damage while in stance and 30hp always

The Rt boss has Kaolin Wand (which is a 10/10 Spawning based wand). He is also not a part of the Afflicted group and can be pulled with a longbow. He is relatively easy to kill.

I've been farming this with my warrior for some time now; figured a 55 build would run into problems from the Kirins. Once I get my monk through GW:F, I'll give it a try.

And yeah, usually would take me 7-12 runs before having one drop. :/

Default The ritualist has a green item

The ritualist has a green item if you kill him...he can drop...practially impossible by yourself though.

I've been farming the Shelter for a while now, with a W/X using Auspicious Parry.

A trick is: The group of afflicted with the Ritualist Construct and the group of plants with Strongroot will fight each other. I'll train the afflicted into the plants, die once, come back and get Strongroots attention, then kill him while the rest are fighting each other.

Done about thirty runs, only one shield, though.

well i have been doing this run for quite some time with my warrior and have killed him about 40 times or so. only 1 shelter has dropped! oh well at least i got one to replace my collectors shield =). And yes you can aggro the 2 groups ...kinda funny killing him like that. Strongroot is normally the last one standing when the 2 groups fight also.

And Krift Auspicious Parry is great here with ripostle and deadly ripostle =) makes short work of everyone!

Whats that Kaolin's Wand worth? I got one yesterday while farming Strongroot ^_^.
Nice guide btw...never thought of 55. BTW How would you get disease? Taint only works when you hit with melee

Im assuming, that u mean you will spawn by unwaking waters entrance, but, for me at least it spawns me all the way out in the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing middle of nowhere.. I dont know if they changed it or what. on another note however, with my war, i can pull the afflicted near the kurzicks and fight them while kurzicks heal me.

I have tried a couple of ways of farming him now:

I used the build on this post (but with my warrior not my monk since my monk isnt here yet) and it worked but was inefficient and usually required me to die at least once.

Then I tried a standard riposte+healing hands build which works pretty well

Dolyak, Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Heal Sig, Watch Yourself, Healing Hands, Healing Breeze, Balth Spirit (I dont always use watch yourself with a riposte build but there is too much elem damage from the mosses and you need it here)

You can tank strongroots entire group with this build (it will never kill the dragon moss's though) though it can get a little hairy, this is the skill spammingest build I have ever used including various forms of a 55

Tanking his group is not the easiest route though, I took the advice of someone else on this thread and I run around to the left, grab strongroots group and lure them to the afflicted then I start attacking strongroot and he pays attention to me while the rest (for the most part) fight each other.

I die now and then but this works well.

The bad news: No shield.

Well did this about 30 times with my warrior in that past 2 days and I finally got a shield.... This shield skin also can be found in chests I found a purple on with +22 health on it, I'd love a rare gold one as I can change the color on it instead of being forced to have a green shield......
After I farmed the shield I decided to hench my necro there as he just got to the armory, well as luck would have it I decide to kill the bosses for fun and strongroot drops a shield for my necro in a full henchie party. Guess I spent all that farming time for nothing.

I've done this with my 55 monk, though I don't use Mo/Me and use the Warden's Brambles+Lacerate 5 pips of degen to kill him (SoJ Knock Down).
Beat him twice, second time he droped the shield, haven't farmed him since because 1. they don't sell for enough 2. poor drop rate with only one person
3. Don't need more than one

Btw I bet Mr D J uses either a riposte or troll farming build...

Got inspired from the thread to go get one. Much better luck then usuall on green hunting... 1st shot luck... which feels great for once. Died 2 times not thinking about what I was doing, but did get the shield. I still prefer the collector with an extra 45hp since I am more function over form.

Reposte Build that really should not have death with at all ~if paying attention lol:

12 tact
12 str
12 swords

Bonettis
Deadly Riposte
Riposte
Auspicious Parry {E}
Dolyak Sig
Healing Sig
Watch Yourself

Suppose I'll keep the leaf shield for now for fun, and I wish you all the same kinda luck on drops. Yesterday the bosses were bone dry for me for the most part. What I do hate to see is when people come by easy luck drop they promptly go lower the price on the market for items. Better to delete the thing then sell cheap if you plan to farm something.

its easy as a warrior, just aggro the one group against the other, Strongroot and a few dragon moss will survive, then just pull them back to the kurzick healer for healing support and just kill Strongroot. Nothing hard about, any warrior build will work as you don't even need to distract his healing sig, he dosn't use it much.

I am using the build for Sskai soloing... But before I can actually use it, I drag the afflicted to strongroot and if he survives, it's very very easy to kill him alone or with like 2 mobs by his side

and troll farming? pfft I never farm them.. 400g per run is not very attractive to me
